For a certain period of time, the world stood still. Yep, and that was because of Facebook DNS failure. Millions of people from all across the earth suffered for a few hours not being able to work Facebook properly. Okay maybe suffered is such a strong word but, really to some, Facebook down is a very, very big deal.
During Facebook DNS failure, some users were not able to log in to their accounts. I can only imagine what that could mean to people who virtually live and depend on Facebook. Others were able to log in but can’t do much due to Facebook down time. No pictures were uploaded during the DNS error, no post were posted and alas! No vegetables were harvested! It must’ve really been terrible. No wonder some thought it was the apocalypse.
During the Facebook down time, Google trends went hay wire as well. Not technically though. What happened was, for a certain short period at Google trends, 9 out of 10 top searches were about, and you guessed it Facebook DNS failure.
This writer could understand the concern of many during the Facebook DNS failure dilemma. Not only that the DNS error was troublesome to its users but also think about the Internet advertising loss during that time. Funny, isn’t it to think that an economy might collapse due to social networking failure? But then again, there is still tweeting, right?
As of this writing, Facebook is back to normal, and so is the world. We are back to uploading, posting, messaging, chatting and what have you. Truly, Facebook is the busiest site to date and technical problems like what happened shouldn’t make such a big deal. Maybe, we users just need to take a break sometime. And the Facebook DNS failure is just the right break. Literally.
