“I am not a liberal. I am an American.” Famous words of Keith Olbermann. But MNBC kicked him out, nonetheless.

“MNBC and Keith Olbermann have ended their contract. The last broadcast of Countdown with Keith Olbermann will be this evening. MSNBC thanks Keith for his integral role in MNBC’s success and we wish him well in his future endeavors.”

And that is about only the sweetest thing about the Keith-MNSBC feud that started months ago. It ended up Keith Olbermann suddenly fired by the network. Whatever the reason for his departure, the relationship has been strained.

In his final goodbye, Keith Olbermann thanked his audience for supporting the show but he could continue no more. I’m sure there are better things for Keith. He can go back to ESPN, or go to other networks. I don’t know. I thought he was insignificant to care.

I don’t care about Keith Olbermann or that he is an influential liberal. He better think of other productive things he could do with his extra time and energy.

Yes, this is goodbye. And like any other broken relationships other than the two parties, the people around them are affected as well. One says that he is cancelling his Comcast, but it has nothing to do with MNBC take over he says. Other says without Keith Olbermann, there is an hour extra reason to sleep early. Others think of him as the only guy left to be brave enough to stand against the right. They love Keith and they hate to see him go.

And then there are people like me. I won’t miss him. He was built to stir things up. I can’t stand him one minute.

But I sure hope that the wounds will heal in time. It’s just that this one seems like ripping the bandage abruptly.
