Today, over a cup of Chai Lai Tea Latte, my friend Luke blurted out the issue about Obama’s birth certificate. The issue was that some claimed—particularly opponents of President Obama—the documents the White House had released had been forged.

Theories claim also that President Barrack Obama is not a natural-born American citizen and hence, he is not qualified to run for president, as it is stated at the 2nd Article of the United States Constitution. This claim is sensationalized and promoted by fringe theorists and political opponents of the President Barrack Obama often referred to as “Birthers”. The name birthers somehow remind me of the weird ‘truthers’ for 9/11 attack aficionados. Some of the theories allege that President Obama is not African-American, that Obama was a Muslim (what?) and had ‘Hussein’ as his middle name.

People are weird, I began telling Luke. The issue still persists, even though the Administration is about to come to its close. The Birther movement is definitely racist. Back in April, the long term birth certificate was witnessed by many media men. This didn’t stop the birthers from gnawing upon the issue. Look at how envious and insecure people can be.

How did this issue start? Let us go back in 2008 at the start of presidential campaigns. During the campaign of the Democratic Party, some random e-mails began circulating, questioning Obama’s origin, citizenship, and even religion. Clearly it was an attempt to revive Madame Clinton’s about to be defunct campaign.

I just have understand now, however, why Obama had resisted showing his certificate of live birth. It is demeaning, it is useless. Whatever clear and solid evidence he will present, still the birthers will insist the document is forged. A mind closed and narrow will never, ever be open to another fact.
